Guest Blogger Sarah From The Winthrop Chronicles!

Hello, I'm Sarah from The Winthrop Chronicles.

I'm so glad to be here with you on Created By Cori. Cori is so talented and so nice to welcome some guest bloggers!

Today I want to share with you this wall hanging I made for my daughter's room. I wanted to use a picture of her, but I wanted something a little different than just a picture in a frame. So I decided to make this photo on wood. I used the same technique as with this name wall hanging that I did a few weeks ago.
first: print off the picture you want to use. I printed it on white card stock paper, so that it would have extra thickness and not wrinkle when I put glue on it.

second: spray paint a piece of wood. I used a scrap piece of wood and trimmed up the picture to match the size.
third: get out your mod podge and coat the piece of wood with the glue. If you use anything other than mod podge, you should do a test sample first to make sure it won't wrinkle the paper. Mod podge did not wrinkle the card stock.

fourth: after you have placed the photo on top of the glue and have let it dry thoroughly, use sandpaper to rough up the edges.

fifth: go over the photo with a thin layer of mod podge to seal it.

sixth: I spray painted some eye hooks and just screwed them in to the top of the wood.

seventh: tie on a ribbon so that it can hang on a nail. Or you can just lean it against the wall on a dresser or attach a piece of wood on the back so that it stands up.

Thank you Sarah for sharing this awesome project with us!

World Autism Awareness Day {Blog Hop}

Welcome to the World Autism Awareness Blog Hop hosted by Created By Cori.

Thank you for joining us today as we spotlight our loved ones.

I am the first stop on your hop today!

This is my buddy Carson. Carson is a wonderful boy and I am so glad I  have the pleasure of watching him grow up!  His favorite color is green and he would be outside 24-7 if he could!  He likes to swing and watch the cars go by and sit in his grandpa's boat.  Carson loves chicken and two sandwiches please!  If here is water near by, this boy will be in it, whether it's a hose, a freezing creek or a warm bath tub.  Carson is in 4th grade and he is such a smart boy!  We love Carson very much!

Spring Clean Craft Room Series with Melissa M.

Hi everyone,

I was invited to attend a Spring Clean Craft Room Series with Cori of Created by Cori.

Craft room  storage room on a budget and if you are like me, it gets a little messy!!!

Here are my before pics.....

These college storage units were $2.00 for a set of 4, it works for the time being!! I really am in love with paper, it's what I have most!!

One wrong move and those cartridges will be on the floor, need a new area for those!! That little white storage unit houses my punches, adhesives, inks and twine!

This computer desk was free, courtesy of my sister!

This work desk free, courtesy of a co-worker!

After Spring Cleaning, however, I need to do my closets soon.....

With an exception of the bottom two left corners everything else is paper! Besides the ribbon on top. Looks a little better, until I decide to purchase the nice storage units.

What happened to all those cartridges?

This shoe rack works perfect, I can see the cartridges better too!

I moved the things I used least to the closet, I am not showing whats in there! LOL

Clean enough to mess up again!

Here are some crafting storage tips!

Have you seen these at Michaels?

Well they are perfect for those little bitty annoying ribbons that you don't know what to do with, I think everyone got those when they first started crafting! I need to decorate these.

Have you ever received or seen one of these wine boxes? I picked mine up at a second hand store.

It's great for housing your Embossing Gun!

I hope you have enjoyed my trip through my craft room and have picked up a tip or 2!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Spring Clean Craft Room Series with Melissa!

Hi! My name is Melissa and I blog over at Sew BitterSweet Designs. I hope you will drop by and check out my blog, I have a tutorials section with 30+ free tutorials.

So let’s do some cleaning and organizing!

Last week I cleaned up my sewing space. Mainly because it was a disaster, but also because it is that time of year, time to clean out the dust and cobwebs.
As a quilter, I have more tools and ruler than you can shake a stick out. I needed to find a way not only to store them but also to display them in my sewing room.
I wanted them to be “art” so to speak. Here is my solution:
I found a fabulous assortment of hooks at our local hardware store (spent less than $10.00) – check it out:
For your heavier rulers, I recommend using a longer hook. The longer hooks screw further into the wall and will keep the hook from pulling out of the dry wall from the weight of the rulers.
For the rulers that do not have holes pre-drilled for hanging are lying flat in my sewing cabinet for easy access on top of my “tools” box.

For more easy decorations to brighten your space check these out:
I love old mason jars – I filled one with spools of thread – it was a great way to store them and they look really beautiful on display. I found a great fish bowl at Goodwill for $5.00 – this one used to sit next to my sewing machine and I would put all my scraps in it. Once I filled it I moved it to the top of my fabric cabinet (I now have a glass vase next to my machine for scraps – it will soon become another decoration). The rest of the mason jars are filled with zippers, dowel rods and over-sized knitting needles. Mason jars are a great way to store things and display them. You can find them in almost any grocery store.

To see more of my Sewing Sanctuary – check out my post here.

I am also hosting a giveaway on my blog that ends tomorrow from Fat Quarter Shop - I hope you will all hop on over and enter to win!

Thanks so much for having me today Cori!

Spring Clean Craft Room Series with Carri!

I'm Carri~ AKA abusybee! Welcome to my Craft room!

I have to admit I am a messy scrapper! I have been paper crafting since 2009 and consider it a HUGE part of my life! I enjoy every second that I spend with paper! My Husband built me a great space to craft (you can see the process HERE and I  filled it with paper, tools and embellishments and I was quickly running out of space!

I often do many quick clean ups but I knew I needed to completely organize everything and the sorting process began!

Clean and Organized!

The process:

Paper before:

Paper After:

 Sorting of all supplies!

I sorted ALL my supplies! Buttons with buttons, ribbon with ribbon etc. I used boxes during the sort to help it go faster.

I also sorted everything once more by Theme. All Christmas, Halloween, Birthday, Baby ETC now have there own set of containers:

Now if I am creating for a theme like Baby I just pull the baby containers and everything I need is right there!

My clean out took me 9 hours over a two day period. I thought that was pretty good! I also hauled out 3 laundry baskets of supplies that I no longer use!

I am super happy with how organized my space is! Now if I buy new supplies I know exactly where they belong.

Here is a video showing my completed space!

Of course since I cleaned my space, I have some goodies to share! Here are the rules:

1. You must be a follower of my Blog Doubleclick
2. You must comment on my spring cleaning post
3. You must comment on my post here at Cori's!

Here is what you can win:

Sticky Squares, Frames, Flowers and 3 tubes of glitter!

Thanks for stopping by to see my craft room!
